We are outside of Iowa City, Iowa for the night.  Very windy today and of course it was a crosswind so Jack had to really work on the driving.  That's two days in a row, hopefully tomorrow will be calm.  We are heading to Chicago area tomorrow and dinner with Dan and Pat.
Iowa is not flat.  It is rolling hills and corn, and more corn and then some more corn with an occasional soybean field thrown in to keep us from being bored.  Real agriculture area.
We did meet a couple from Sweet Home, OR today at one of the rest areas on 80.  They are heading to New York State to see the changing leaves.  We will see them in New Jersey probably in another week or so.  No firm date yet.
Well not much else to say.  Will write more after our family visit.
Nebraska  IT IS FLAT!!!  That was a direct quote from Jack, of course, I added the embellishment.  It is really flat after coming from Wyoming.  What a difference a state makes. Nebraska is really agriculture, lots and lots of corn.  We really came through some areas of flooding.  The South Platte is rising due to the flooding in Colorado and the ground around the river was really wet.
Jack and I are seeing states that we will probably not see ever again.  We will be in Iowa today and then on to Illinois.  Looking forward to Illinois, spending Friday evening with Dan and Pat (my cousins to those of you who don't know).
Really not much to write about.  Very few pictures so not sure when Jack will post.  I will try to write some more tonight after we get almost through Iowa.  Bye for now.

We are in Cheyenne Wyoming.  We should be in Nebraska tonight but the weather was so bad this morning that we decided to wait a day.  It was raining all night and up to around 11 today but the wind was sooooo bad.  It is still windy but does feel like it has died down.
All the way across Wyoming I was trying to think of a way to describe what I was seeing and I just can't explain the vastness.  You look out and you see for miles and miles.  On the western side of Wyoming it is big big rocks and brown and then you drive for miles and it is brown but you are climbing and climbing.  You feel like you are on the top of the world and then you start down on the eastern side of the road its green and small rocks.  It is an amazing state and the people are very friendly.  We decided that we would have a big steak for our dinner in Cheyenne and we did.  Wow was that steak good.  Saturday we drove down to Fort Collins and visited our friends there.  Had a great weekend and got back to Cheyenne before the storms started.  The RV park has a restaurant and we got ribs for dinner last night.  This has been a great weekend, I haven't had to cook.  Tomorrow is coming and back to cooking.  We are hoping to be in Illinois on Friday.  Hoping to have dinner with my cousins Dan and Pat.  All is determined by weather on this trip.
Jack is going to post our pictures tonight.  We have a bunch!

Well the Shellers are in Wyoming.  We had a good day weather wise but some cross winds in some of the valley's in Idaho and Utah.  Hopefully tomorrow the wind will be at our backs.
We stopped for lunch and a little diner off the highway in Trementon UT.  Jack had a hot pork sandwich with mashed potatoes and stuffing all for 5.95.  I had a cheeseburger.  Friendly people and we knew the food was going to be good cause it was mostly locals.  Not much to see.  Lots of farmland and mountains.  Did see a small herd of Pronghorn Antelope.  Of course, the camera wasn't ready so no pictures.  I did get some really good shots of the rocks and their formations today.  Jack will cull through them for the good ones and publish them one of these days.
I did decide that I can't blog to early because I forget things. Yesterday I forgot to tell you the two most important things that we saw.  Well really three things.  First we saw a bunch of people ready to ride the range and I saw another cowboy!!!  The third thing we saw was a cattle drive.  Think they were only moving them from one field to another but they were in the road along side us.  Again the camera was sitting in its traveling home right next to me.
Really enjoying this trip so far.  We have had good weather and seen some beautiful country.  None of which I want to live in permanently.  We have met some nice people in the RV parks and will keep you up on that side of our trip.

Just a quick update today.  We are now in Wendell Idaho.  Quiet ride with good weather.  Hoping the weather holds for the next phase of this trip.  We were having a hard time remembering the ride from last year when we went through here on our way to Colorado and we kept saying nothing looked familiar and then all of a sudden we saw something that we remembered.  Thank God, we were really worried about our brains.  Well we are expecting a storm so I am going to cut this short and really there isn't much to tell you about.  We are back in high desert and there is a lot of brown.  Some is really beautiful and some is boring.  Well, see you all tomorrow from Wyoming.  We go through Utah and then hit Wyoming!!!

We are on the road again

I wasn't very good at keeping up our blog while we were in Oregon.  Sorry.  We had a great visit.  Spent a lot of time with Erin and Scott and got to see our friends Pam and Doug and Diane and Jim.  We kept very busy and Jack got the chance to do a couple of little things at Erin and Scott's house.  We spent a day and a half with family in Washington.  Hadn't seen Ann for years so it was wonderful to see her and meet her family.  Throw in Sis and Kenny and it was just fantastic.  Ann and family live on Camano Island and the house is gorgeous and the view is to die for!!!!  Not exaggerating one bit.
Well we planned a wonderful trip east.  We were going to Colorado and then across 70 through Kansas and Missouri etc.  Well that got changed.  We are going to try to see Kathy in Colorado but probably just for a day and we will leave the motor home in Wyoming and drive down.  That is still up in the air.  We want to see how the clean up goes and if the weather cooperates.  We feel that Colorado has enough to take care of they don't need us.  We will make our final decision about the quick visit probably tomorrow.  Will be watching the news.
We had a beautiful ride across I-84 and are spending tonight in La Grande, Oregon.  The highway was smooth and the weather was fantastic.  Had a tail wind all along the Columbia River.  Wait until you see Jack's pictures of the valley between Pendleton and La Grande.  We were up about 4600 feet and pulled into the view area just to get this shot.  WOW.
Tomorrow we head into Idaho and are staying in Wendell, ID then on to Utah and Wyoming the next day.  Will keep you posted.  I PROMISE!
