Good afternoon,
I thought I would take a few minutes to update you on our time in Portland. This past week has been full. Jack, Erin and I left for Camano Island, WA to visit Ann Marie and her children and to meet her new husband. Well, technically he wasn't her husband when we met him. We were able to spend Monday evening with them and had a chance to meet Ken. We all liked him and could see how well he fit in with Ann and her children. We had a glass of wine, a little dinner and then more wine and talk. Tuesday we were able to go to their wedding. It was on one of the beaches on Camano Island and it was truly lovely. Scott, Ann's brother, was able to be there and I know that meant a lot to Ann. Ken's family was also present and we had some time to talk and get to know them at the luncheon/dinner. All in all a lovely wedding that concentrated on the meaning of marriage not all the hoopla!!
After leaving the island we rode to the outlets one exit down from our hotel so we could walk off some of our food. Of course, Erin and I loved the chance to go in and out of the outlets and even Jack bought something. We probably walked for a good hour and a half then made our way back to the hotel. After freshening up we headed next door for a drink and some dessert. It was fun to have Erin all to ourselves for this trip and we were up and moving so that she got home in time for work on Wednesday. Of course, she slept all the way down I-5!!!
Jack and I vegged most of the week. Did some wash and minor cleaning but nothing too strenuous! Saturday we decided we needed to go to Ikea, Jack wanted a small flower pot for the orchid his cousin Jane gave us. We wanted to match the one he bought the last time we were at Ikea but that didn't work. They didn't sell the small pots without the orchids in them. Since that wouldn't work we went to the bath area and found two white plastic cups and bought them. Spent a whopping $3.98. Then our Saturday got interesting. We had a wonderful parking spot and as we got in the car and went to start it nothing happened. Well, something happened. All the regular lights sounds and beeps worked but when he turned the key the starter didn't engage. I can't tell you how many times we tried but I'm sure anyone who has had a car not start knows that you just keep trying cause you think it's going to start any minute. We were lucky that Ford has roadside assistance for 5 years and we called them and they towed us to a dealership. Got to the dealership 15 minutes before the service department closed and we had excellent service. Couldn't fix our car then but we did get a courtesy car to use and the serviceman thinks the problem is covered by the extended warranty Ford gave us for this model car. It seems this happens and so Jack and I both slept better last night. We really like the car they loaned us. It's a C-Max. Little bigger than the Focus and it's a hybrid. So stay tuned for updates.
Meanwhile we are here at Columbia River RV Park until Wednesday. We then move to Portland Fairview RV Park for the long weekend then back here at Columbia River RV Park until the 28th of July. Will let you know how we like the next park.
HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!
